Heaven has a new angel

Christopher Clarke Patterson went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend and will be sorely missed. God must have an awfully important job for him in Heaven.

Thank you all for your love, support and prayers. We are blessed to have all of you in our lives.

May you rest in peace, Christopher.

"Happy from now on are those who die in the Lord!
So it is, says the Spirit, for they rest from their labors."

"Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our
understanding: Deal graciously with Lise, Doug, Lauren, Natalie and all of Chris's family in their grief. Surround them with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss, but have confidence in your goodness, and strength to meet the days to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

  25. Doug,Lise,Lauren and Natalie: I wanted to share one memory of Chris that will bring a smile to you: You were a toddler Natalie, Lauren and Chris wanted to help me take care of you. (They thought they were older) Chris told me, :"Wait that is my sister, I can do it." Didn't matter what is was, He was looking out for you. I know Chris is going to continue shielding his sisters, family as he now will have better view from heaven. Chris will be your angel as he will always be close by, once again watching over his sisters and family. Phil 1:3, I love you Patterson Family.

  27. Since Chris and his family moved into our neighborhood when I was a kid, every day when we all got home from school we would play in the woods, watch TV, play video games, run radio controlled cars, or do whatever it was that piqued our interest that week. For years our neighborhood crew was inseparable.

When we all left for college, we didn't keep in touch as much as we should have, but he was and always will be part of my happiest childhood memories.

Thank you, Chris, for being a great friend!

  30. Chris was my guitar-playing buddy at CVCC. I will miss our fun little music talks. These words come from Jef Buckley's version of "Hallelujah," which was one of Chris' favorites:

"I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the lord
But you don't really care for music, do you
Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
    The baffled king composing Hallelujah

    Hallelujah... "

  32. Chris was a great friend, well liked, courteous, funny, and loyal. He stopped by my office on a daily basis to shoot the breeze about politics, life, business, sports, history, gaming, etc. It has now been almost a month since we last spoke, and I am sorry to know that we had our last conversation. He was the one guy I knew I could ask for a favor and he would do it, from moving to filling in for a class to simply bending an ear. Your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Good bye my friend.

  40. I hadn't spoken to Chris in over a decade, maybe two decades. I'm not good at staying touch. I moved away from Talladega as a kid, and the last time I saw the Pattersons I recall it was at some playground in Birmingham after some event (like a graduation or a funeral or something) - we were still kids. I just found out he had passed earlier today.

Chris was my best friend as a little kid and I have so many great memories with him and his family in them. Keep in mind Chris is under four feet tall in all of these memories and we're both typically jedi knights with imaginary lightsabres daring each other to walk around the lip that encircles his staircase and has a treacherous fall down to the steps, or attacking the evil tree in the backyard with Patches the dog, or building "air tents" with sheets over the air vents at Hunter's house across the street. When his dog, Patches, was hit by a car, it was the first time I ever really grieved. That dog was our jedi-knight-companion, and it's still a sad memory that hasn't left. I think Chris and Patches will watch each other's backs if they cross paths again. I even remember getting in a "fight" over a toy that ended up broken at some point, and giving each other a wide berth for some period of time (days, maybe weeks) until we got over it and decided it was better for "everyone involved" if we were just friends again. Chris and I had a lot of experiences together, and he left me so many great childhood memories. I miss him.

I never knew Chris as a man - the pictures on your blog are mind boggling - you can still see the kid in that adult face. From the posts on this blog he must have been a great man, who apparently left many great memories with a lot of folks over his life. What a great guy.
